Look!: Homemade Children's Smock

06-07-07HoTo.jpg

Do you have a budding artist in your home or are your children eager to help with the dishes? Well, if you have some old kitchen or hand towels you no longer use then you have the perfect combination for our super simple DIY smock.

• Start by cutting a circle in the towel big enough for your child's head to fit through but not so big that the smock will slide off their shoulders.

• Next, sew the circle you just cut with fabric to prevent fraying and finally add elastic strips to the sides of the towel, under the arm area.

• You're done and have created a quick smock by recycling old materials that also withstands frequent washings!

One optional step is to sew a plastic loose leaf ring on one of the shoulders for easy hanging of your new child's new smock.

An easier alternative is putting an old men's dress shirt on backwards. Roll up the sleeves or cut them off and you're done.
