Rattan Step Basket

We only have one floor in our NYC apartment, but this basket caught our eye as something useful should you have a bit more space. We find the Ballard Designs catalog is always worth a flip through when it arrives, and this is one of our finds from this past weekend.

We like the fact that it will fit your stairs perfectly and looks like it's supposed to be there. It has a metal frame which means it's strong. Another great feature- a smaller organizer basket lifts right out for smaller items. Hey if the stuff's going to be there anyway, might as well give it a home. All of you people with two floors or more- does this look useful? It's $39.50 and available right here.

I've been looking for a normal one on these forever. Thanks for the link.

We have stairs in the entryway to our apartment. This would be perfect for the stuff that piles up on them.

WOW! I'm so excited that I checked the nursery site. I just moved into an apartment with my husband where you walk through the front door and are immediately faced with a flight of stairs. It's not an issue, but sometimes you just can't/don't want to carry thirty million things up the stairs at once, or you don't want to get to the bottom only to realize that you left the dog's poopy bags all the way upstairs. This will be PERFECT for storing little things like that and as a good place to drop the mail or newspaper until you can come back with free hands for it!

I see this sort of thing pretty regularly at "craft 'n' light decor" type stores - Michael's, Hobby Lobby, etc.

My husband thought this was the most ridiculous thing when I excitedly tried to buy one right after we moved into our two-story house from a NYC apt. All the time, I wish I had ignored him and bought it. Stuff really does accumulate to go up or down the stairs, and it's unwieldy to carry a bunch of stuff. This is the perfect solution!
